Concept

The Primaton series is NMT Electronics' family of compact, high-density processor modules, designed to bridge the gap between off-the-shelf development boards and fully custom IC-level integration. The concept addresses a common challenge in embedded hardware development: the need for a processing core that is accessible enough for rapid prototyping, yet compact and standardized enough to be embedded directly into an end product without a complete redesign.

Full Pin Access in a Minimal Footprint

Each Primaton module exposes every pin and function of its core microcontroller, giving designers complete access to the processor's capabilities without the limitations typically imposed by simplified development boards. This is achieved while maintaining an ultra-compact form factor, averaging 25x25 mm with a 1.27mm pin pitch; approximately the size of a coin. Some models in the series are smaller or larger depending on the core processor, but all share the same design philosophy of maximum functionality in minimum space.

Socket Interchangeability

A defining feature of the Primaton series is cross-module socket compatibility. Within each family, function pins are grouped and mapped consistently across modules, meaning one processing core can be replaced with another with minimal changes to the surrounding design. This allows teams to upgrade or switch processors at any stage of development without redesigning the carrier board, significantly reducing iteration time and design risk.

Flexible Deployment

Primaton modules are designed for two distinct use cases. They can be used as standalone controllers, interfaced directly or through optional carrier boards for development and prototyping purposes. Alternatively, they can be embedded directly into an end product design, treated as a standard IC component, thanks to their compact footprint and standardized pinout. This flexibility makes Primaton equally useful at the bench and in production.

Development Status

The Primaton series is an active product line within NMT Electronics, with multiple modules developed across different processor families. Further variants and carrier board options are under ongoing development.

Absolute Starter Kit (ASK) Series

Everything You Need to Start on One Board

Concept

The ASK, short for Absolute Starter Kit, is NMT Electronics' entry-level integrated development platform, designed specifically for absolute beginners taking their first steps in embedded systems. Rather than requiring learners to wire components on a breadboard or source peripherals separately, ASK integrates a carefully selected set of essential components onto a single, ready-to-use board alongside a standard microcontroller or development board, removing the setup friction that typically discourages beginners from getting started.

What's on the Board

Each ASK board comes populated with a practical selection of onboard peripherals covering the fundamental building blocks of embedded development. The board visible in the Arduino Nano ASK variant includes a joystick module, a rotary encoder, a set of push buttons, status LEDs, and supporting passive components, all laid out in a clean, clearly labeled arrangement that makes it easy to identify and interact with each element. The hosted development board sits centrally and is accessible in the standard way, with no modifications to its original interface.

Design Philosophy

The ASK series is intentionally minimal; it does not overwhelm the learner with unnecessary complexity, but provides just enough variety to practice a wide range of fundamental concepts, from digital input and output to analog reading, serial communication, and basic control logic. The board form factor is compact and tidy, designed to sit comfortably on a desk and be used alongside course materials or tutorials without additional equipment.

Available Variants

The ASK series covers a selection of popular microcontroller platforms, with each variant tailored to the specific pinout and capabilities of its hosted controller. This allows learners to start with a familiar platform and progress to others using the same familiar ASK format.

Development Status

The ASK series is an active product line within NMT Electronics, with variants available and further controller-specific editions under ongoing development.

Extended Starter Kit (ESK) Series

Extended Functionality for Serious Projects

  • Concept
Concept

The ESK, short for Extended Starter Kit, is NMT Electronics' advanced development platform, designed for developers who have moved past the basics and are ready to work with more demanding hardware interfaces and real-world peripheral integration. Where the ASK series focuses on fundamental concepts, the ESK series is built for those who want to explore a significantly broader and more capable set of features, suitable for serious prototyping and more complex project development.

What's on the Board

The ESK integrates a comprehensive selection of advanced onboard peripherals, covering capabilities well beyond standard development boards. This includes OLED display interfaces, power driver circuits, audio interfaces, medical-grade sensors, and a range of other advanced components, providing a rich and ready-to-use environment for tackling sophisticated embedded use cases without the need to source, wire, or validate individual modules externally.

Design Philosophy

The ESK is designed for the curious and the serious; developers who want to push further, experiment with real hardware interfaces, and build projects that go beyond blinking LEDs and reading buttons. The platform consolidates advanced functionality into a single, coherent board, so the focus stays on development rather than integration and debugging of the platform itself.

Available Variants

The first ESK variant is built around the Nodemcu-32s, taking full advantage of its dual-core processing capability, integrated WiFi and Bluetooth, and extensive peripheral support. This variant is currently under testing.

Development Status

The ESK series is currently in active development, with the Nodemcu-32s variant in the testing phase. Further controller-specific variants are planned as the series expands.
